Welcome to the website of the Algerian-American Foundation for Culture, Education, Science and Technology (AAF-CEST). Recent developments in technology are creating a world that is gradually outgrowing the basic physical borders that for a long time have separated peoples. Peoples that only a few hundred years ago could not communicate with each other are today only few clicks away from each other. This development brings new challenges, which demands new ideas and new measures. In this regard, the Algerian American community, through the AAF-CEST and other organizations, can and should play a critical role in building stronger ties between the peoples of Algeria and the United States.
The AAF-CEST is a non-profit, membership organization whose mission is to develop, strengthen, sustain and promote educational, scientific, technological and cultural exchanges. It aims to bring together professionals in a wide range of fields to work collaboratively towards developing and fostering mutually beneficial relations between Algeria and the United States. Specifically, this means promoting progress of science and health between the two countries; advancing the national interest in education in both countries; encouraging innovative ideas whenever they arise; exploring and identifying opportunities and resources to promote training and community relations; and promoting Algerian and American cultural exchange activities.
No organization can be successful without the hard work and dedication of its members and a clear and transparent organizational structure. The AAF-CEST is no exception and I therefore invite you to familiarize yourself with its goals, its governance structure, its leadership and contact us should you wish to be engaged in this effort. I am confident that there are many ways you can contribute to strengthening the ties between Algeria and the United States and that these can be identified by getting to know each other.
On behalf of the board of the AAF-CEST, I thank all those who, in 2010, have taken the major step of launching the Foundation and continue, as honorary members, to devote some of their precious time to help it fulfill its mission.
Thank you for visiting the AAF-CEST website and for your contribution. I look forward to working with you.
