Dr. Elias Zerhouni – Former AAF Chairman – Chairman Emeritus
Elias Zerhouni is a native Algerian Scientist trained in medical radiology in the USA. He spent most of his career at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine where he served as the executive dean.
Dr. Zerhouni was appointed Director of the National Institutes of Health by President G.W. Bush and the presidential science envoy under President Obama’s administration. Subsequently, he led the Global Research and Development program at Sanofi until 2018. Dr. Zerhouni has been invited to join the boards of directors of several foundations, including the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and currently the Foundation for the National Institutes of Health.
