Lotfi Belblidia

Dr. Lotfi Belblidia has a wide range of experience in nuclear engineering both in thermal-hydraulics

and in reactor physics. He has been working in the field for more than 30 years, both in the United States and in Europe. He is Senior Nuclear Engineer with Studsvik, a Swedish company leader in software and services to the nuclear industry around the world, where he has been mostly involved in transient calculations. The last few years he has focused on developing and implemented advanced core models in training simulators.

As part of this work he has had to work closely with simulator and engineering groups at many different nuclear power plant sites and been involved with the integration of 3D neutronics models with thermal-hydraulic systems codes. Before joining Studsvik, Dr. Belblidia worked at the Paul Scherrer Institute in Switzerland as a group leader in charge of developing computer models of all Swiss nuclear power plants for safety calculations. Dr. Belblidia obtained a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Ecole Polytechnique d’Alger and a Ph.D in Nuclear Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta. After graduation he held a faculty position at Georgia Tech before moving to Algeria and Switzerland.
